Causes

Supporting Our Community. Serving Our Ummah.

We believe that communal strength begins with true compassion for each other. Through your generosity, the New Zealand Zakat Foundation provides essential support for those facing hardship — locally and internationally — helping every member of our Ummah live with dignity and purpose.

Financial Hardship

We support Muslims in New Zealand facing financial crises — from new Muslims and widows to families escaping hardship or violence. Your giving provides essentials like rent, food, and medical costs, helping people regain stability and dignity when they need it most.

Debt Relief

For those trapped in genuine, unavoidable debt, we provide Shariah-compliant assistance that helps restore balance and relieve distress. Your contribution helps struggling families regain control, rebuild their lives, and move forward free from the weight of financial hardship.

Scholarships

Education empowers individuals and uplifts communities. Through our Scholarship Fund, we assist students who show promise and need but lack the means to continue their studies — helping them build better futures and contribute positively to the New Zealand Muslim community.

Convert Care

Embracing Islam is a beautiful journey that can also bring isolation and financial struggle. Our Convert Care program provides new Muslims with financial aid, mentorship, and community connection — ensuring they are welcomed, supported, and able to thrive in their new faith.

Domestic Violence Survivors

For those escaping violence, safety can’t wait. Your Zakat and Sadaqah provide emergency housing, essentials, and support for victims of domestic violence — helping survivors rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.

Single Parents

Single parents carry immense responsibility, raising children, managing a home, and often juggling work while keeping bills paid. Many are widowed or rebuilding after separation, facing emotional and financial pressures that few can imagine.

Extending Our Care Beyond New Zealand

While our priority is to strengthen the Muslim community here at home, we know the concern of New Zealand Muslims extends far beyond our borders.
In partnership with MAA International — one of Australia’s oldest and most trusted Muslim charities — we now facilitate international aid and emergency relief on your behalf.
Through this collaboration, you can give with confidence, knowing your Sadaqah and Zakat reach those in greatest need around the world, managed with integrity and compassion.

Palestine Emergency

The people of Gaza are facing a humanitarian catastrophe. Over 2 million people are living under siege, with access to food, water, medicine, and shelter severely restricted.

Food Packs for Africa

In Africa, many families face hunger amid crisis and scarcity. Your Zakat or Sadaqah funds emergency food packs — delivered through trusted partners — that provide staples, dignity and hope. Together we can nourish lives and uplift communities across borders.

Orphan Aid

Orphans around the world wait for someone to say, you matter. Your Zakat or Sadaqah helps provide food, education, healthcare and safe housing for children without parents. Through our global partnership with MAA International, you can give hope where it’s needed most.

Help Sudanese Refugees

Thousands of families in Sudan have fled violence and hunger, seeking safety with nothing but faith. Homes have been destroyed, food is scarce, and children are living in makeshift camps. Your Zakat or Sadaqah delivers emergency aid — food, water, shelter, and medical care — restoring dignity and hope where it’s nearly lost.

Emergency Relief

In times of crisis, every moment counts. Your Zakat and Sadaqah provide urgent relief to families affected by conflict and disaster across the world. Together, we bring hope where it’s needed most.

Build a Water Well

Establish a Sadaqah Jariyah - a gift that continues to benefit others long after it’s given. Your donation helps build wells that supply safe, life-changing water to families and communities in need.
