Because Eid should feel like Eid
For many of us, Eid is noise, colour, food, family.
For some families, it can pass quietly.
No new clothes.
No small treats.
No sense that this day is different from any other.
Through the New Zealand Zakat Foundation, your donation can help ensure that children and families experiencing hardship are able to celebrate Eid with dignity.
What an Eid Gift Includes
Eid gifts are practical and locally relevant. They may include:
- Small toys such as balls, skipping ropes or dolls
- Simple sports equipment for children
- Biscuits, sweets and treats to share as a family
- Juice or cordial for the household
They are modest items, but they carry meaning. They tell a child that this day matters. They tell a family they have not been forgotten.
Who Receives Them
Eid gifts are distributed to families who are already experiencing financial hardship, including:
- Single parent households
- Widows
- Refugee families
- Households supported through our hardship and debt programs
Recipients are assessed carefully and supported confidentially.
Why It Matters
Eid is not only about prayer. It is about joy, belonging and community.
A small gift can shift the experience of the entire day. It can turn embarrassment into celebration and isolation into connection.
If you would like to help a family experience Eid with dignity, you can give a Eid gift here.
Give so that when Eid arrives, it feels like Eid for everyone.
